CTI is an acronym for Computer Telephone Integration and signifies the linking of computer and telephony systems. The integration of computers into existing telephony systems creates completely new potentialities for the user. In its simplest form, CTI consists of selecting one or several telephones from an existing database and then establishing a telephone connection or teleconference with a click of the mouse, thereby substantially enhancing operative comfort as physical dialing is no longer required. CTI also enables a far more comprehensive handling of incoming calls. For example, information about the caller - including name, address and sales figures - is displayed on the user’s monitor before the connection is established. This ensures that the user is optimally prepared for the incoming call and has all relevant information at his or her fingertips.
